Career

Bob moved to Minneapolis from his hometown of Green Bay, Wisconsin to study architecture at the University of Minnesota. He switched his major to advertising after learning that he would probably spend the first half of his career designing the restrooms in other architects’ buildings.

Over 23 prolific years at Fallon, Bob worked on a variety of famous campaigns for clients that include TIME magazine, United Airlines, Hush Puppies Shoes, Porsche Cars North America, Coca-Cola, Jim Beam bourbon, Lee apparel, Citibank, Nikon cameras and the introduction of Ted Airlines. In 2000, his TIME “red border” campaign was named “Print Campaign of the Decade.” Bob was on the Board of Directors of Fallon from 1993 through 2000.

In 2005, Bob was singled out as Art Director on ADWEEK’s National All-Star Creative Team. This was his fifth appearance as an ADWEEK All-Star.

He has won 43 One Show Pencils, numerous Clios, Communication Arts awards, Effies, AICP awards, Cannes Lions and other oddly shaped pieces of metal. Bob also served as president of the One Club for Art & Copy in New York from 1998 to 2001 and has given talks on the topic of advertising in locations as diverse as Stockholm, Singapore and Milwaukee. He has also judged dozens of advertising shows, from Hong Kong to Cannes.
